Brentwood eNEWS
Happy New Year!
On behalf of Brentwood Staff, I thank you all for your cards, gifts, and greetings and best wishes for Christmas and the New Year. May God bless you abundantly this New Year 2012. May we also find true peace in God. It is easier to feel peace when things going our ways; but what if not? Trust in God for His complete care. Lay our burdens at the foot of Jesus’ cross. Why carrying your heavy bag while ridding in a car? Put it down. Be still and enjoy the ride!
Starting this week, every United Methodist church will submit a weekly report to its respective Annual Conference. Brentwood’s special task force has met and set our own goals for the next 4 years. Our church council and pastors will guide us to reach these goals together. The 5 numeric goals that need to be reported weekly are: Average worship attendance, professions of faith (new believers), small groups, members in mission, and dollars given to mission.
We have been doing quite good in these areas. But we can do it better this year, and every year. Our denomination, conference, and district can only help us; but we must do it ourselves. We need to attend worship services as much as we can. We also need to bring new people with us so they can become new Christians. We need to create more small groups and participate in their meetings to be nurtured and to serve. We need to join mission team, and also to give to mission works.
Brentwood does not need to be driven by these reports in order to be vibrant. We are already VIBRANT!
Our Office Manager Peggy will be on vacation, 1/4-6. Shelley Yetter will be our church secretary for these days. Thanks Shelley!
